Everything is built into the price Powershop charges for a unit of electricity, a kilowatt hour, so you aren't potentially confused with extra fixed daily charges or tariffs. Furthermore, you can choose power products with carbon offsets to reduce your carbon footprint. If cash flow is important, you can even buy power in advance and spread the cost to heat and run your business throughout the year.

Who owns Powershop?
Powershop is wholly owned by Meridian Energy, a State-Owned Enterprise.
Where is their head office?
Powershop's head office is in Wellington and their Call Centre is based in Masterton.
What are your prices and plans?
Powershop does not have plans as such. We're committed to offering you some of New Zealand's most competitive electricity prices so regardless of what kind of plan you maybe on with your current retailer, most customers can save with Powershop, simply because they’re not on the best tariff.
Do you have prompt payment discounts?
No, this is already factored into to our product prices and your estimated savings. In most cased Powershop will still be cheaper than your existing supplier even with their prompt payment discount.
Are there any hidden fees in your unit price?
There are no additional fees, prompt payment discount or charges like daily fixed charges. The full cost of your power is included in your unit price.
How often will my meters be read?
Powershop reads customer meters on a daily, monthly or bi-monthly basis depending on the area they are in: For basic meters in Auckland, Franklin, Rotorua, Hawkes Bay, Horowhenua, Kapiti, Wellington, Christchurch, Queenstown and Dunedin meters are read on a monthly basis. Waikato, New Plymouth, Palmerston North, Wanganui and Wairarapa basic meters are read on a bi-monthly basis. For smart meters, remote readings are taking on a daily basis for ARC meters and on a monthly basis for AMS meters.
My current retailer installed a smart meter and can read it remotely. Will Powershop be able to read this meter remotely also?
Some retailers have the technology to remotely read other retailer's meters, but this is not always the case. Powershop has agreements with most meter owners and should be able to read your meter daily (in the case of Arc meters or otherwise monthly. In the event of the meter being incompatible, Powershop will install a meter that is compatible with its technology.
Do Powershop have bonds for business customers?
No, we do not require bonds from our business customers.
What payment methods do Powershop offer?
With Powershop you can pay by credit card, automatic payment, direct debit, online transfer or Pago in advance or arrears - the choice is yours.
Is there a fee for paying by credit card?
No, Powershop do not charge transaction fees on credit card payments.
