Following the separation of lines and energy businesses, Energy Online Limited was established as an independent retailer in 1999. In December 2002, Genesis Power Limited bought Energy Online from (then) publicly listed Newcall Group Limited.

Energy Online have around 70,000 customers, and their key focus is on retailing energy services to their expanding customer base in the North Island of New Zealand.

FAQs

Can I switch to Energy Online if I am moving into a new property that is with another supplier?
No. You will need to remain with your own current supplier to begin with, or if you don't have an account with a retailer, sign up with the supplier of the property. Energy Online will then be able to switch you across.
How can I pay my Energy Online bill?
With Direct Debit, your bill is paid automatically from your bank account on the due date advised on your invoice. As long as there are sufficient funds in your bank account to cover your bill, you'll always receive your Prompt Payment Discount.

- ReliaBill® is a payment arrangement which allows you to make regular payments of the same amount, smoothing out the highs and lows of your Energy Online account throughout the year. You will automatically get all prompt payment discounts provided you don't miss any payments, and you can choose how often you would like to pay - monthly, fortnightly or weekly.

- Automatic payment allows you to pay a fixed amount from your bank account each week, fortnight, or month. If there's still an amount owing when you receive your invoice, simply pay the outstanding balance by the due date.

Pay your bill through your bank's telephone or internet banking service. Simply contact your bank to register for their service and set up Energy Online as a bill payee.

- Use the Freepost envelope that arrives with your bill each month to post a cheque.

- Visit any New Zealand Post Shop or Books & More agent and pay by cash or EFTPOS. You must present your Energy Online bill with the barcode remittance slip.

- For your convenience, Energy Online can charge your total invoice to your credit card each month. Alternatively, you can make a one-off payment online.
Will Energy Online read my meter every month?
Energy Online will make every effort to read your meter on a regular basis if there are no access issues. They are happy to take a meter reading from you at any time. There are several ways for you to provide a reading if necessary; you can either log on to your account online, email, fax or phone through your reading.
Can Energy Online charge me for Gas as well as my power?
Yes, With Energy Online, you can receive your gas and power bill together in the following regions- Waitemata region, Auckland, Counties Region, Taranaki Region, Wanganui region, Morton/Bulls region, Manawatu/Horewhenua, Hutt Valley, Wellington.
