Energy Direct NZ is an independent trading division of Wanganui Gas Limited. In April 2002 Wanganui Gas entered the Electricity retail market and they now supply both Electricity and Gas to their residential and small business customers in Wanganui, Marton and Bulls. In November 2006 the Wanganui District Holdings Company, who hold the Wanganui District Council's shares in the Company on the District Council's behalf, purchased back the 25.1% of shares in the company held by Vector Limited. Wanganui Gas is now 100% Wanganui owned and operated. Following their entry into the electricity retail business in Manawatu and Taranaki they carried out a review of their retail business and as a result in March 2007 they combined Wanganui Gas and Directenz customers under a single new energy brand Energy Direct NZ.

Energy Direct NZ prides itself on the personal services that they provide their customers. Their offices in Wanganui are open from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday and customers of Energy Direct have the added benefit of staff members to help resolve any energy problems that you may have, face to face.

How long will it take until Energy Direct NZ is supplying my energy ?

In order to keep the cost of customer transfers to a minimum, the transfer from one supplier to another normally takes place at the next scheduled meter reading. You will receive a final account from your existing supplier and a welcoming letter from Energy Direct . The maximum time this should take is 8 weeks.

How much does it cost to join Energy Direct ?

There is no charge to change to Energy Direct NZ (deposit may be applicable) and there are no administration or transfer fees. You should however be aware that some companies may charge a final meter reading fee.

When will Energy Direct Increase their prices ?

The price that they charge for energy is detailed in their published Pricing Schedule. These prices are usually fixed for a year at a time and Energy Direct will only change these when the suppliers change their prices. Usually you can expect the network and metering operators to review their charges no more than once a year. Their contract for the supply of gas from the Wholesaler provides for an inflationary adjustment each year. This means that the price you pay for gas with Energy Direct will probably change on 1 October each year.

What payment options are available with Energy Direct ?

You can pay your Energy Direct account in the following methods:

• Cheque by post, or in person at the Energy Direct offices
• Telebanking
• Direct Debit
• Easypay
• EFTPOS, or cash paid in person at their Agents offices

Will I have to sign a contract with Energy Direct ?

The only addition to your responsibilities as laid out in the Customer Supply Agreement is that you may be asked to commit to buying your gas and/or electricity from Energy Direct for 1 year.
